Natural Selection at Work

Darwin (named after the man behind evolution) is the capital of the Northern Territory, and as such, is a great place to get provisions, car repairs, cheap internet, and a haircut.

Architecturally, it is pretty boring, but for interesting reasons. The city was destroyed not once, but twice this century; first in 1942 by the Japanese, and again in 1974 by a Cyclone named Tracy. As a result, most construction is modern, functional, and rather solid.

This is the remains of their original Town Hall, which survived the bombing, but not the Cyclone.
