We brought on this trip a laptop and a wifi-enabled iPod Touch to keep in touch, download photos, and update the blog. We found it much easier than on previous trips - we enjoyed the freedom from the high rates and inconvenient locations of Internet Cafes. We were surprised at how often, in a city, we could just drive around until we found an open wireless signal to check our e-mail, or highway conditions, or whatever we needed.
Many of the campsites/RV parks that we stayed in had wireless internet on-site, but not all. Knowing that this is Apple's symbol for Wireless Networking:
It is reasonable to expect that this sign, found in a campground at a State Park,

is showing where to get a good WiFi signal, is it not? Alas, this is the standard campground symbol for an amphitheater, where the park rangers give talks about the wildlife and history of the area. Even though we like to be connected, it is nice to know that there are some places where you just can't get an e-mail.
